What a delightful little gem in the most unexpected place! Going there makes you feel like a great old dame more then boere meisie... Lol. A real blast from the past that takes you back to yesteryear in grandma's or great aunty's home. While taking it all in you can experience a light bite or a refreshing drink at there sit down restaurant all enveloped in the ambiance of a Hollywood set from the black and white era. Food was fresh & tasty.... But the cakes are an absolute must! We had the salted caramel corn cheesecake. Yum yum... It looks super sweet but surprisingly not. Very well balanced with the topping being sweet & the neutral cheesecake light & fluffy.
A beautiful place to visit. I love that it’s out of the way in an industrial area. My friend was visiting from Durban so I took her there for coffee and we shared a popcorn salted caramel cheesecake. It was so delicious. We had a lovely lady serving us. Her name is Celeste. Service was outstanding. Staff are friendly. So much to see inside. It was lovely to browse around. Will definitely be visiting again soon.
What a breath taking experience walking into a Victorian antique shop. The tables are nestled between clothing hangers and bric a brac from days gone by. The menu is small, but has something for everyone. The bacon, pear and blue cheese quiche was an tasty treat served with a green salad and balsamic drizzle, the flavours worked beautifully together. The milkshakes were pretty to look at and a delight on the tongue. The caramel popcorn cheesecake was a sheer delight. The service was excellent and the price of R150 per person was true value for money. Highly recommended.
This is an "other" worldly experience.. it feels like I am stepping into the era in should have been born in. My 3rd visit and I cannot get enough of it. I never wanted furniture in my house older than I am but this is décor on another level... Anybody that loves antique must give this place a visit or 2
The visit was worthwhile and worthy of a repeat visit for a few reasons. The moment you walk in, you are surrounded by vintage collectables, home decor and a ambience of rest. The menu is diverse enough, the chocolate cake I had, was moist and well balanced in sweetness. I also met friendly twin sisters that work there. Truly a relaxing experience.
Such a nostalgic experience- Clean and inviting- the food was so good.
A nostalgic visit to Boere Sjiek in memory of a deceased loved one who thoroughly enjoyed the establishment. After a long absence, I was able to visit the Cape again, and Boere Sjiek was on my list. I am amazed by the many displays that combine uniqueness with style. The most ordinary item takes on new form here. A variety of table arrangements enchant your creative spirit to try something similar at home. Unique dishes, cakes, and various snacks make it an unforgettable visit.
I enjoyed it. In an industrial place, this was a beautiful find.. They have beautiful vintage finds and their cakes are to die for, they were a bit sweet for me...
